Lenovo Yoga S730 Review: A Worthy Travel Companion

[ad_1]

Some of us have a laptop we have been using for donkey year because it meets all our requirements. Unfortunately, when we need to travel, that’s when we discover our laptops can’t come with us. Less than two and a half kilograms of weight and a 15.6-inch screen, surrounded by legitimate frames, do not seem to disturb at home, but the whole thing is becoming quite problematic outside of it. I look with more jealousy at modern ultrabooks that offer excellent performance and compact dimensions at a reasonable price.

A few years ago, when buying a laptop, you could choose two of the three essential features of the device – acceptable price, mobility, or performance. Even the combination of the last two was quite tricky because many ultrabooks, even at a high cost, had a specification calling for vengeance to heaven. Of course, I ultimately set aside the topic of a dedicated graphics card, because it is evident that its placement – especially then – adds a lot of weight and price. The days when the ultrabook theme was “ultra-mobility,” but also “ultra-price” and “ultra-low performance,” are long gone. Lenovo is trying to prove it with the example of its model Yoga S730.

Travel alone or in groups – Check out Lenovo Yoga S730

Lenovo Yoga S730 is a laptop asking you to take it on a journey, so you can comfortably carry it on a short family trip or vacation. Lenovo boasts that this model is the slimmest device in the portfolio of this series. The laptop is barely 11.9 millimetres thick and, I guess you have to agree with me that there is no hand luggage that you can’t put it in yet. The other two dimensions also leave no doubt as to the fact that the Lenovo Yoga S730 is to be a laptop primarily extremely portable. In essence, the complement is the width and depth of 307 and 210 millimetres, respectively. Of course, the right side of the screen goes hand in hand with the small dimensions. In this case, it is surrounded by thin frames with a 13.3″ diagonal matrix and Full HD resolution, which may not provide a cinematic experience when watching movies. Still, it will allow you to do much more than even the largest smartphone.

Lenovo boasts a bit of how it has managed to make the S730 so slim. I will add from myself that, of course, the necessary companions for this design are USB type C sockets and a hinge that allows 180 degrees of tilt (not 360, as is the case in some representatives of the Yoga line, and now in the new Yoga C nomenclature as “convertible”). However, what draws attention, in this case, is the innovative cooling system. The suction of air necessary for proper “ventilation” in a tight housing takes place through additional holes in the keyboard, which facilitated the slimming of such a structure.

But the volume limit is not the only problem we often encounter on the go. Equally important is the weight, which, even if it does not cause too much trouble at the airport, can be very embarrassing during everyday lifting. The weight depends on the exact configuration, but the Yoga S730 weight oscillates within 1.2 kilograms, so you can always, even during long walks, take it with your backpack (although I must admit that I don’t like carrying all my belongings with me).

The size of the laptop is not everything, because of the interior counts

Well, dimensions are dimensions, but what is behind them? After all, the dimensions themselves would be utterly irrelevant in the case of stale content. Let’s start with the specifications. There are several variants, but they remain unchanged: Windows 10 Pro, integrated Intel HD620 graphics, speakers signed Dolby Atmos, three USB type C sockets (including two second-generation one of which is active for charging) and 3.5 mm jack.

Depending on the selected version, they will be supported by 10th generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processor, 8 or 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 256 or 512 gigabytes PCIe SSD. Something suitable for everyone. It’s enough for essential work – maybe we won’t edit the movie on it (or rather, we won’t do it in the blink of an eye), but the office package or WordPress have any amount of space.

Break from searching for a socket

An essential feature of all mobile and travel laptops is that they offer at least a decent interval between the next need to connect the battery to electricity. Lenovo Yoga S730 on one charge provides up to 10 hours of work (depending on the set battery mode and screen brightness), so we can safely rely on it properly all day without looking around the outlet. Located on the right side of the laptop, the first-generation USB type C socket may not be able to act as DisplayPort, Thunderbolt or PCIe x4, but it serves not only as USB 3.1. With its help, we supplement the laptop’s energy deficit, and an additional beautiful aspect is that the Lenovo Yoga S730 takes less than an hour to recharge the battery up to 80%.

Nowadays, we like our equipment to be intelligent. I speak to my Google Assistant more and more often, which is especially useful when driving a car. Although I do not expect anyone to think about using the Yoga S730 behind the wheel, the built-in voice assistant (depending on the region) from Amazon – Alexa – will gladly help you solve your possible problems. There was also a bit of modern biometrics – besides Windows Hello, Lenovo was tempted to place the fingerprint reader below the keyboard so that we could unlock the laptop as intuitively as the smartphone.

Not everything can be prevented, but everything can be resolved

What if something goes wrong? Returning equipment that is a daily work companion under warranty is extremely tedious – especially when the laptop is not only an everyday companion but also an indispensable tool. Therefore, the manufacturer decided to include this model for free with the Lenovo Premium Care program. Registering your copy after purchase on a dedicated page guarantees that in the event of any problems within five business days, your computer will be repaired. More precisely, if something goes wrong, you will receive a refund of the purchase value and fixed equipment.

Together, all these features make the Lenovo Yoga S730 a great travel companion, both for multimedia and office work. Regardless of whether you need to be productive like me outside of the house or always like to have a multimedia kid with you, the ultrabook gave him the tasks set, and you won’t have to worry about any power source.
